Morning VS. Night Showers

Today, I thought I should share my opinion with you all on morning and night showers as this is a topic that I, myself was torn between. A year ago, I always stuck to morning showers. But now, I'm more of a night time shower person. I think that morning showers are great when you live in hotter climates, because it removes all the sweat from your body that happened throughout the night. It also makes you feel wide away and maintains a 'fresh' feeling, lasting the whole day (which removes the worrys of smelling bad). If you've got frizzy, wavy or curly hair, sometimes we have no choice as our hair just gets messed up throughout the night.in the end, it's really about what you think is best for yourself and what suits your schedule. However, morning showers mean that you've got less time to sleep in the morning. I had to wake up half an hour than needed so I could fit my shower and make sure that I'd be ready before the bus came to pick me up for school. Now, even though my hair is still semi-frizzy/wavy, I have found that if I braid it overnight, then take it out in the morning, it would still be damp. This meant that my hair looked like it had been washed that morning and was easier to brush through making it look much neater! Coming to conclude that one thing that I had to worry about in the morning was solved. I also found myself extremely tired from all the homework I had done the night before, to the point where I would have to rush in the morning to fit my shower in due to oversleeping. Showering at night, meant that I, could sleep that well-earned half an hour extra! So, even though I take night showers, my hair still now looks presentable in the morning, and I'm less tired! Take about a BONUS! I've also found that showering before bed makes me feel calm and relaxed, making it much easier to sleep at night. It also keeps the sheets a lot cleaner! Okay, now that we have discussed the positives and negatives to both, let's summarise. Showering at night: Extra sleep, leaves you feeling relaxed for bed, leaves my hair damp in the morning making it easier to style, cleaner sheets and the ability to take your time in the morning. Showering in the morning: Hair neat for the WHOLE day, wakes you up, gets rid of all the sweat from the night, and makes you smell fresh and clean for the whole day. In conclusion, I'm definitely a night shower-er now! What are you? Leave your comments below and all talk to you all next time!

American Horror Story Season 1: Murder House Review

Every holiday I look for a new show to watch and aim to finish before the school year begins again. This year, I came across American Horror Story (AHS) and my oh my, what a season! The show tells different stories each season and I though it would be best to start with season 1 (aired in 2011). Murder house is about a family of 3 who just bought a house known by the whole town as "Murder House". It's an enormous house filled with ghosts of the previous owners who died either via suicide or murder in which they continue to haunt the new owners. With that comes a lot of drama that I don't want to spoil incase you were planning on watching this season. Even though the show is labelled as Horror and Thriller, I don't find it scary at all (and I freak out over everything!). If you are afraid of any scary faces popping out, just remember to tell yourself to beware when there is silence and when someone is walking on their own through the house. My favourite character is Violet (who plays the daughter of the owners of the house) because her issues were very relatable to people her age and the plot seems more surrounded by her. I think that the acting was superb and the plot/script was very well written. Overall, an amazing season!
Thanks for reading and please comment and follow my blog.

Beauty Day: DIY Recipes

Spas are a great way for us to relax and feel fresh and clean, however they can be quite expensive. I decided to share with you some of the most effective masks that I've found online to help ease the pain in your wallet.

Turmeric Face Mask - A great way to exfoliate your face. Helps to treat acne as well as diminish hyperpigmentation. I recommend using this twice a week. Apply using a makeup brush or fingers, leave on till it drys or alternatively 15 minutes. Beware, turmeric stains everything! Don't dry your face with a towel after washing the mask off, use tissue paper!
Recipe:
1 teaspoon of turmeric
2 tablespoons of plain yogurt (yes, you can use Greek yogurt)
1/2 teaspoon of honey

Sugar Lip Scrub - Fast and efficient way to prevent and remove chapped lips. The sugar exfoliates your skin and the olive oil helps to moisturise your lips. Apply with fingers and rub your lips in circular motions to get the most dead skin out. Use once a week.
Recipe:
2 teaspoons of brown or white sugar
1 teaspoon of olive oil

Egg and Yogurt Hair Mask - Eggs are filled with protein which help to stimulate the hair follicles and make your hair grown faster. The yogurt/olive oil is a great moisturiser and gets rid of all split and dry ends. Use every week for best results. Leave in for about 1 hour and wash out normally. For an even coat, apply with a hair-dyeing brush on dry or semi-wet hair.
Recipe:
1 egg.
1 tablespoon of olive oil.
1/2 teaspoon of honey.
2 heaped tablespoons of yogurt.
Optional: dash of cinnamon (helps to stimulate the scalp for a boost of hair growth)

I hope you enjoy using these recipes and feel free to pass these along to friends and family!

Pamper Nights

Living in the 21st Century can be very stressful at times. Work, school, problems at home and with friends are all factors that can cause personal issues (such as Anxiety) and stress. One way that I find very effective for calming yourself down and trying to forget your problems for a couple of hours is "pampering yourself". Pampering doesn't necessarily mean painting your nails and doing your hair, it's really about focussing on your inner self and relieving the tension in your muscles. Depending on how stressful and fast-paced your life is, you may need more or less pampering sessions than others. I, personally like to have pamper sessions at the end of every month and especially after finals and exams. Here are a few things that I do within my pamper sessions:
1) Deep condition my hair - You can purchase hair masks in supermarkets/drugstores or you can make your own.
2) Have a bubble bath or a longer shower than usual. - Add in a few drops of essential oils like Lavender and light some candles.
3) Read a good book in bed. - The Choice by Nicholas Sparks and Everyday by David Levithan are a must!
4) Make myself a hot cup of cocoa or green tea. - Pour it in a nice mug too :)
5) Watch a few of my favourite movies. - Lying To Be Perfect and Divergent are great!
6) Draw- I like drawing nature when relaxing.
7) Make myself a good purifying face mask. - Gets rid of all impurities.
8) Painting my nails is also a nice way to unwind. - Try neutral colours to reflect your clear mind.
9) Listen to soothing music. - Calms you down and clears your mind. I personally like Ed Sheeran's X album.
10) Moisturise my face, arms, and legs. - Don't want to have dry skin after all that we've done.

If you've got other things that you do to help relax yourself, leave a comment down below.

10 Things To Do When You Are Bored

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Are you sick of sitting around your room all day staring at the ceiling? That happens to me everyday! Especially during school breaks! Here are a few of my tips to help get you through the holidays;

1) Go for a walk: Enjoy the fresh air that you have for free! Walk your dog or even take a sibling with you.
2) Think about the future: Think of life goals, where do you see yourself in 10 years time? Or even think about whether we'll have flying car or invisible glasses!
3) Draw: Take out a few coloured pencils and professional sketch pencils to doodle around the page. Using good quality pencils will make you feel like a pro! But one tip: don't draw on the walls, you'll get in serious trouble by the owner of your house or your parents!
4) If you can't draw, make a collage: Grab a magazine and cut out a few of your favourite pictures and stick them on a large piece of cardboard. That way, it will look rustic! Who doesn't love vintage these days?!
5) Read: The joys of reading a book (not electronically) have faded. Yesterday, I went to my public library and there was barely anyone in there apart from the staff. Reading gives you something else to think about, and calms you down before bed.
6) Play a sport: Go outside and run around, shoot some hoops whilst you're at it! And if it's too hot outside, play a sport on Wii Fit! Yoga is cool!
7) Rearrange your room: Switch up the furniture, clean your closet, hang some decorations up! Your options are endless!
8) Learn a new instrument: Just recently, I taught myself how to play the ukulele! It's so fun, and everything you need to know about the instrument is online! There is no excuse (except if you don't have an instrument around)
9) Write a story: Think about something that recently happened to you and document it! And if you think your life is boring, come up with something you might want to do and write it down.
10) Message a friend: Social media has taken over the world! Just say hi, they might be bored too! Once the conversation has started, you'll forget that you were even bored in the first place.

These are some of my tips, I want to know yours! Comment below and stay tuned for more posts.

Plastic Chokers?!?! Living In The Past?!?

Throughout the course of 2014, I have noticed that chokers have become more popular throughout teenagers. I'm talking about the ones commonly bought from etsy.

My question is, is it back in? or are we just living in the past? These chokers were around for at least 10 years, why are they back? Yes, it's true when they say that fashion is just history repeating themselves, but I think the choker trend isn't nessasary. At the end of the day, it's just a piece of plastic or cord around our necks. It does look good, the whole layered look works very well together and is able to bring an outfit together through different prints/jewls and texture but I don't think the trend will last long.

Let me know what you think below in the comments. Do you think the choker trend is going to last long?

Clarisonic Mia Review!

A couple of weeks ago, I got the clarisonic Mia as a gift for my birthday. It retailed for $150 from David Jones. It came with a 30ml Clarisonic Face wash along with the brush and the device itself. The packaging was crisp-clean and neat, separating the charger from the face wash and from the brush with it's cap. Prior to using the device, it needed to charge for 24 hours without disturbance to ensure long-life battery and no future complications. From my understanding, when the green light at the back of the brush remains lit up without it flashing, that means that the device is fully charged and ready for use. The device flashes the green light and the end of the minute long wash cycle, indicating that it is low on battery and needs charging. At this point, I charged it overnight for approximately 10 hours, removed the magnetic charger and used it for the morning. After I used it, I went back and charged it for the rest of the day and removed it at night. This way it would have at least 18 hours of charge which seemed to last me about 20 days, using the device twice daily.
Why I wanted the Clarisonic:
Before I started using the Clarisonic Mia, I struggled with bright red, inflammed acne on my forehead and particularly on both of my cheeks. This left me with horrible hyperpigmentation which wouldn't go away for at least 4 months after the initial pimple. I did exfoliate my face at least once a week and I tried a variety of face washes to help with not only my acne, but my hyperpigmentation as well, and nothing worked! I looked online for any mask to help clear up my skin, I even thought I was washing my face wrong at one point, and nothing helped. The Clarisonic however, did, within a week.
What did it do:
After that first week of using it twice a day, morning and night, it reduced the number of new pimples I got, it left my skin radiant and soft, and significantly reduced my redness and hyperpigmentation. I couldn't believe the results! I could actually see my cheeks natural skin tone, not just a purple/brown mark that made my face look like I had even more acne! Even though it reduced the number of pimples I got, it didn't stop them completely. After almost 2 months of use, instead of getting a new, big pimple every day that got infected and hurt a lot, I get one every four or five days (which is perfectly fine for a teenager).
What I used it with:
I used the Clarasonic with Cetaphil's Gentle Skin Cleanser for all skin types as well as Oriflame's Tea Tree Oil and Rosemary Wash & Tone gel. I have yet to try the Clarisonic's face wash because my cleansers have been working well together so far. The Clarisonic is also very effective in removing all face makeup as it goes deep into the layers of your skin, making your skin more clean and effective.
I recommend it because:
- It helps with clearing up your skin from scars and pimples.
- Removes all makeup with no residue
- Leaves your skin feeling soft and clean.
- Cleans down into deeper layers of the skin where your hands can't clean.

An Introduction to Me!

Hello and thank you for stumbling across my blog, 'reviewsandnewclues'.
I have created this post to give you a brief background on myself and what type of topics I will share with you on this blog and a few of the things I enjoy doing.

1) I love books. Although I don't spend as much time reading them as I would like to, I certainly love the concept of travelling to a new world where I can live a life in someone else's shoes. My favourite books include the Twilight series, Everyday, The Choice and The Future of Us. Feel free to comment below some of your favourite book titles as well.

2) I aspire to be a psychologist, interior/fashion designer, journalist or a writer in magazines like Seventeen and Teen Vogue. I am very interested in all these professions however, I simply can't make up my mind!

3) Listening to music and playing musical instruments are both things I enjoy doing in my free time. I have taught myself to play the Piano and the Ukulele. As for mainstream music, I enjoy artists including Ariana Grande, Calvin Harris, Beyoncé, Kanye West, Macklemore, Nicki Minaj, Drake and more artists from Pop to Rap!

4) I love beauty and fashion! I love putting together different outfits and looks to fit for different occasions. Makeup and hairstyles are also something I enjoy experimenting with and watching YouTubers do.

5) Speaking of YouTube, my favourite channels include ItsJudysLife, Makeupbymandy24, Missglamorazzi, Zoella, Sprinkle Of Glitter, Niomi Smart, Beautybaby44, Lauren Curtis, Shaaanxo and much more! I love how they present themselves on YouTube and how they stay so genuine to themselves even after gaining thousands and even millions of subscribers.

6) TV Shows are something that I like to watch at the end of a long day at school. I specifically watch Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, Switched at Birth, Americas Next Top Model, Keeping up with the Kardashians and Project Runway. I love the drama that all these shows provide as well as the spookiness of Pretty Little Liars! Who's A??? I'm dying to know!

7) And Finally, I'm a high school student who's still trying to figure out who I am as an individual , what I want to pursue in the future and how to pass my math exams!

Thanks for reading this post, I hope you've learnt a bit about myself and hopefully you will continue to read my future blog posts!
